# Quote a desk order

> Pin a rate for one order. One side is a stablecoin and the other a corridor currency; the stablecoin side decides the direction (stablecoin → currency is a to-bank order paid to a beneficiary; currency → stablecoin is a from-bank order credited to your balance). Fix either amount; the other is derived at the corridor rate and rounded to the asset’s decimals (currency down, stablecoin up). A quote is short-lived — `expires_at` is authoritative, normally 60 seconds after issue — is consumed by exactly one order, reserves no balance and is not listed. No Idempotency-Key.
